Riverwoods house fire 1-27-12
A Riverwoods resident called the fire department just before 5 a.m. on Friday to report a house fire at a neighbor's home. The incident occurred near Robinwood and Duffy Lanes, where thick smoke was visible coming from one of the garages. When Lincolnshire-Riverwoods firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a house under construction at #2 Wildflower Lane. The structure was already engulfed in heavy smoke and fire, specifically inside one of two two-car garages, which had partially collapsed the metal overhead door. Smoke had spread throughout the entire house, prompting the alarm to be upgraded to a working fire. Additional resources were dispatched, including an engine from Deerfield and a tanker from Prospect Heights.
The blaze was contained within the garage and adjacent entryway in about 20 minutes, preventing it from spreading further. Firefighters worked quickly to control the flames and begin the overhaul process. Larry Shapiro and Tim Olk were on site and captured several images of the incident.
